Piccadilly Line disruption continues this Sunday — what to expect

Chiswick residents travelling into central London today face a difficult journey on the Piccadilly Line, with planned engineering work and earlier points failures combining to cause serious disruption.

There is no service between King's Cross St Pancras and Cockfosters as part of a planned weekend engineering closure that began at 0400 on Saturday. On top of that, points failures at Northfields and Acton Town — two stations directly relevant to Chiswick travellers — have caused severe delays across the rest of the line, with no service operating between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge either.

TfL is accepting tickets on alternative routes, including London Buses, the Elizabeth Line, Great Northern, London Overground and South Western Railway via any reasonable route. For Chiswick residents, South Western Railway services from Chiswick station and bus connections into Hammersmith for the Elizabeth Line are practical alternatives worth considering today.

Replacement buses are also operating on the closed section. Travellers heading to Heathrow should allow significantly extra time and consider the Elizabeth Line from central London as a more reliable option this weekend.
